The Ladies Temperance Club's Farewell Tour (Kindle Edition)
Don't let the word "temperance" in the title mislead you. I honestly couldn't put the book down. Was attending a film festival and slipped out a few times just so I could keep going. Nice to read a book where I can't guess what is going to happen. Enjoyed every character (except Icy Jack). Hope book 2 becomes available for Kindle. (That dinky motorhome on the cover is nothing like what they were driving, though.)

5 stars***** Thank you Jeff Lee for a fun ride...December 1, 2016

This is a book to read that will lift your spirits. You will have to stop and laugh often. Each of the characters are so different, just like real humans, that the adventure moves along at a good pace and takes you all over the Western part of the country. The story is complex because the characters bring diverse personalities to the scenes. I really enjoyed this book for all those reasons but primarily because of the authors skill in bringing it all to life with his excellent command of satire. Human folly trips over itself throughout but I didn't mind. It was all so amusing that it seemed like it was just natural for events to happen the way they did. Any author could take lessons from this story about how to take a situation that could have been dreadful at every turn and make it entertaining.
I recommend this story with great gusto.

5 stars***** This is a really fun ride of a read. March 2, 2016

The plot line is hilarious and the characters are all very memorable. The writing is snappy and funny. I'm looking forward to another one of his books soon. (Chump Change was a great extension of several of the characters in this book.)

**SPOILER FREE**
Okay, if you haven't read this book yet you are missing out on a great read! This author takes you on a ride of comedy and laughter but yet can pull at the heart strings as well. The wittiness of the author's writing abilities shows with his characters and story telling. This is absolutely an amazing book! I loved every moment of reading this book and am a little sadden that I have completed it.

5 stars***** Funny, sad and crazy. I loved The Ladies Temperance Club's Farewell Tour - a lot! January 10, 2016
By Jane Risdon
Where to begin? I loved this. Funny and entertaining with a hint of sadness if you take off the layers of make-up and bling the ladies indulge in. Vonda, Kay and Francine take you on a journey in their RV across California with their special cargo, and even drop in on Area 51, while they search for the 'perfect place' to deposit the contents of the freezer. I really had a good giggle, possibly because I know the areas they visited and the sort of folk they encountered. I think I may even know a few ladies like this charismatic trio. Having spent a lot of time in Hollywood and Santa Barbara especially, I think I have bumped into them or at least their dopple-gangers at some time. I love the big hair, the heavy make-up, the over the top clothes and the fun they have with the Scandinavian men, the Motel owners and even The Recovery Attorney and his mates on Harleys. You can't help but love them and their antics. Well written, comic and with not a little pathos running through the pages, I really had fun reading this book. It is my first by Jeff Lee, but I doubt it will be my last. If you like a good giggle and some crazy escapism, go for it. I am glad I did.

5 stars***** Ya Ya Meets Thelma and Louise !!! September 28, 2015

I do not normally leave reviews, however, this one begged for one. I received this book as a gift from a friend, and have to admit it's not my usual genre. I read this book in one sitting and I cannot remember having laughed so hard! It was funny from start to finish. The characters were engaging and completely likeable! I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone. I look forward to reading more from this author! Well Done!

5 stars***** It's Thelma and Louise, only funnier! August 27, 2015

I love road trip books and this one is hilarious from start to finish. Listen up ladies, we’ve all been in Vonda’s shoes. We’ve been saddled with a selfish SOB and once or twice, we’ve wondered what would happen if we offed him. ;) Vonda only did what came natural and her best friends are there to help her get rid of the body. No body, no crime, right?
Thus begins a rib-tickling adventure featuring three woman, a deceased deadbeat and the authorities on the hunt for the RV they’re riding in. The author, who is a man, does an incredible job getting us inside the head of Vonda and her two girlfriends. I was really impressed.
I laughed all the way through the book and I can’t wait to read the next installment!
If you like Thelma and Louise, you’ll love this book!
Favorite Character: Vonda. I love how matter-of-fact she is. She’s a fun no-nonsense kind of woman who gets herself into some sticky situations. Luckily, she has her best friends at her side or else she’d lose it. She reminds me of Thelma from Thelma and Louise, only a bit wackier.
Favorite Quote: “Y’see officer,” she launched into a character centered somewhere between Gracie Allen and Ethel Mertz. “Vonda might have been driving and all, but I’m the reason she had to swerve.”

5 stars ***** THE ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME!! March 28, 2012
By Books4Tomorrow
Bursts of laughter punctuated the quiet of our household as I devoured chapter after chapter of this hilarious book into the wee hours of the morning. It takes a lot to get a really good laugh out of me, but author Jeff Lee did it with ease!
Meet Jack Thibideau, the boyfriend who meets his demise early on in the book. Jack hates large women, mousy women, cops, game show hosts, most teachers, actors, professionals, guys who make more than him, guys who make less than him, and a whole bunch of other things. Now let me introduce you to the Ladies Temperance Club members. There's Vonda, Jack's girlfriend, who considers herself a leader in fashion - though her friends might not completely agree with this; Kay, Vonda's closest friend for more years than she cares to remember; and Francine - a large, honest woman who lives life to the fullest and don't give a heck about what anybody thinks. They love their wine, they love each other, but they're not too fond of Jack.
Ingeniously written, with plenty of wit, side-splitting humor and double entendres, the journey these three extraordinary women undertake, isn't only about burying a body in the desert, but also explores how far the best of friends will go for each other. Trust me, when you're in a bit of a pickle, like oh....bludgeoning your abusive, cheating scum of a man to death, these are the ladies you'll want on your side. And they're a riot to boot!
If the blurb didn't get you rushing out to your nearest bookstore or over to Amazon to get your hands on this gem of a book, then most likely nothing will. But here's an excerpt which I hope would convince you:
"Of course she felt bad about what happened; few people on the planet actually deserved to be done in by another, and there were miles of difference between Jack's simple, larcenous no-goodnikness and, say, Hitler, Saddam Hussein or your everyday, run-of-the-mill corporate raider.
But looking at it in the light of a new morning, Vonda managed to convince herself that physically removing Jack Thibideau from the census rolls was really an act of self-defense.
Because after living with that bitter, abusive, impotent, alcoholic and thieving bastard for twenty years, it was really a case of kill or be killed. If Vonda hadn't exercised a little extreme prejudice on Jack, she would have had to do herself in, to finally be free of his special brand of long-term charm, goodness and warmth.
And like those old Highway Safety public service commercials used to say, "The life you save may be your own."
Admittedly, the title of the book didn't grab me and if I hadn't read the blurb, I probably would've given it a miss. But by the end of the book, it felt as though I've been on one heck of an adventure with some of the most stunningly real characters - no wait, make those `friends' - I've ever only come across in few other books. We're talking supreme entertainment here.
"The Ladies Temperance Club's Farewell Tour" exceeded my highest expectations and therefore I enthusiastically recommend it with a richly-deserved 5 stars!

4.0 out of 5 stars **** The Ladies Temperance Club's Farewell Tour January 9, 2012
By Big Al
I wish the author hadn't used the "Thelma and Louise meets Lucy & Ethel" line in his description. Then in a rare burst of creativity, I could have (at least in theory), come up with the line myself. It's the perfect description. Participating in some female bonding while on the run (like Thelma and Louise), the group of friends who call themselves The Ladies Temperance Club keeps getting into situations that are very much Lucy and Ethel. The murder hanging over their head provides conflict and tension, but the humor in the situations the ladies get into is what sets this book apart. When it's all over, someone may have some `splaining to do.

5 stars ***** Quick - someone make this into a movie!!! August 27, 2011
By Mandy Ward
I wasn't sure what to expect when I opened up my copy of this book. I'd heard it being compared to Thelma & Louise, but as I've never seen that movie, it didn't actually mean all that much to me. What I actually found in the pages of The Ladies Temperance Club's Farewell Tour went far beyond the description of the movie that I looked up on Wikipedia...
The story itself revolves around the active membership of the Newbury Park Ladies' Temperance Club. Vonda, Kay and Francine are three close friends who support each other through the thick and thin of daily life, accompanied by as many bottles of wine as they can drink together.
Vonda is married to Jack Thibideau and after one particularly nasty encounter with Jack's taste in porn and alcohol, coupled with many good reasons for divorcing the guy, Vonda picks up a nearby trophy and does to Jack what any thinking person would like to do...
The hijinks start after Francine and Kay find Vonda and decide to take her on a road trip in Jack's luxury RV. They stuff Jack's body into the RV's onboard chest freezer and disappear into the night.
This is one book you are going to find yourself snorting, cheering and laughing aloud at!
Be prepared to have to read pieces out or explain what you are reacting to, or alternatively, you could suggest that the inquirer read the book themselves. Either way, it is a rollercoaster ride of emotion and entertainment from beginning to end.
Jeff Lee has really captured the whole road trip movie feel and his characters are perfectly crafted, drawing you into the story and making you care about them in so few words. His descriptions at each pitstop they take and the encounters they have keep the story flowing nicely, especially after Fish and his Sidekicks get involved.
In fact my only criticism is that I wanted to know more about the three main characters. You find out a lot about Vonda through Jack's back story, but you don't really understand much about Francine and Kay's lives until a good two thirds of the way into the book. There is enough there for the other two members of the Ladies Temperance club to have their own books, prequels if you will, leading into this one.
This is a book that I think will lift the spirits no matter how many times you read it, and one that I can seriously see becoming a box office blockbuster.
