Reviews for Hair of the Dog.
A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON MY WAY TO THE PUBLISHER: At one point I was signed with a small publisher. Nice people, who supported a small stable of very good writers. They published HAIR OF THE DOG and another book (outside the series) for me. They also worked with Amazon to put up and maintain the books' Amazon pages. And, HAIR OF THE DOG managed to pick up a slew of 4 and 5-star reviews. Unfortunately, that publisher went out of business. And with them, went the book's Amazon pages...and my reviews. I am in the process of self-publishing HAIR OF THE DOG, but won't able to utilize those reviews when it gets its new page. So, these are really some of the reviews HAIR OF THE DOG REALLY got. I just wanted to be up front with everyone.

***** 5.0 out of 5 stars A Rip-Roaring Fun and Funny Ride!, March 13, 2012 By Dana Brantley-Sieders (Nashville, TN USA)

I am a big fan of Jeff Lee!
After reading (and loving) his first book, "The Ladies Temperance Club's Farewell Tour," Jeff was kind enough to share an Advance Reader Copy of 'Hair of the Dog' with me.
Blending humor with a healthy dose of noir is no easy feat, but Jeff pulls it off beautifully as his lawyer-turned-bounty-hunter/repo man Moe 'Fish' Fishbein and his wacky sidekicks work a missing dog case. Things get ugly, and deadly, when they realize Poochie is sporting a collar chock full of stolen diamonds. With an ambitious starlet, sleazebag lawyer, and sleazebag lawyer's seriously bad-ass (save for the girlie voice) henchman after the stones, Fish and the boys quickly find themselves in over their heads.
Things get even uglier when the bad-ass henchman kidnaps one of Fish's sidekicks in order to get the diamonds.
The plot is fast paced and full of Jeff's trademark wit and satire. With larger-than-life characters reminiscent of those created by Carl Hiaasen and the Coen Brothers (think 'The Big Lebowski'), it was a fresh and entertaining read.
Definitely recommend it!

Jeff Lee has done it again...creating the perfect blend of humor and heart!
From Mr. Foo and The Hoop Cheese Queen to Fish, The Bounty Hunter, and his ever-faithful Einstein and Kenny, Hair of the Dog is just a terrific read!!!
Lee's books have incredible ensemble casts that you just want to go home with after each "The End".
If we all had friends like Fish and his Crew, the world would truly be a much better place!!!

With a fantastic and well received debut novel The Ladies Temperance Club's Farewell Tour under his belt, Mr Lee manages once again to entertain and befuddle us with a mystery novel starring the gentlemen of Doberman Recoveries. (also the wonderful men from the last novel). Meet the guys from Doberman Recoveries. Moe, Kenny and Einstein. They look and act like thugs, but have hearts of gold and very good ethics! Tattooed up the wazoo, riding Harley's and acting disreputable is all fun and games until a hit man who speaks like Marylin Monroe comes after you. And all this just because of a lost dog...
Mr Lee as usual, gives us funny quirky characters; funny, snarky and smart dialogue, men with a great sense of right and wrong (the scene when Fish is berating himself for doing the horizontal tango was wonderful and realistic ) brisk pacing and an interesting mystery to be untraveled. Unfortunately, I was one of THOSE kinds of people and didn't see the bad guy until he was staring me in the face!
I have to ask Jeff: Mr. Lee, just what the heck is Kenny really saying when he uses the word BRAH? Every time I saw that all I could picture were little brassieres all over the place!
If I have one complaint about this book, it is Kenny. I have to say I could have done with a little less Kenny and his (what I think is) Valley Speak, but I think I am going to be in the minority with this!
An interesting ending to the hit man was a fun and very clever touch, and it gave me the willies. Action like this is usually seen in horror novels so it was completely out of left field for mild mannered Moe. but worked so well I just had to laugh.

I just finished downloading and reading this book all within an afternoon. I loved it. The characters were likable, enjoyable, and I wanted to know them. The bad guys were dispicable. Jeff please right more books with Fish, Eisnstein, and Kenny. I will gladly continue reading of their adventures. I saw another book that you wrote and I am checking that one out this coming weekend.

***** 4.0 out of 5 stars Funny, enjoyable read, March 18, 2012

Doberman Recoveries, headed up by Moe "Fish" Fishbein, takes on the job of finding Mr Foo, a pooch that jumped out of a car and disappeared a week ago. Sounds simple, but of course the repo man/bounty hunter/attorney hadn't been told quite everything, such as the dog was wearing a collar loaded with stolen diamonds. It gets further complicated when it's obvious a guy who will stop at nothing wants the diamonds for himself. Fish along with Einstein and Kenny, his employees/friends are all in danger as they start putting the clues together.
These tattooed, Harley riding tough guys were first introduced to us in The Ladies Temperance Club's Farewell Tour, and if you've read that book you'll love this one. The characters are well defined with the story being told from a number of points of view. And for their tough guy looks one might make assumptions about their personalities and abilities. They'd be wrong. But what most stands out in the story is the almost constant humor. Even things that are serious are described with just enough of a twist to make you smile. This was definitely an easy, enjoyable read.
The story could have easily ended much earlier, but what fun would that have been without the added drama? And the bad guy? Got to love how he's taken care of. I hope to see these guys again.

***** 5.0 out of 5 stars Quirky Like Christopher Moore, March 12, 2012

I was lucky enough to get an advanced reader copy of my writing friend Jeff Lee's new book "Hair of the Dog" since I loved his first book "The Ladies Temperance Club's Farewell Tour" (which I actually had to purchase myself. Darn you Jeff!). While I thought Farewell Tour was funny and showcased Lee's wit and unique, quirky voice, I would have to say that "Hair of the Dog" does so even more. "Hair of the Dog borders" on the ridiculous at times, but in a way that tickles your sense of humour and makes you want to read on.
The novel is set in Hollywood and centers around stolen diamonds set in a dog's collar (in order to hide them). However, they aren't quite as hidden as the original thief believes and soon there is a mad scramble for the diamonds. In the midst of it all this is bounty hunter and repossession specialist, Fish. And every time he turns around he's either being hired, fired, or mourning yet another client in the circle of people trying to get their hands on the diamonds. As the circle around the diamonds cinches tighter, Fish and his partners have to find a way to not only get the gems in the right hands, but to save their skin. In some cases, quite literally.
If you want to know a bit more about Jeff and his first book, he stopped by my blog a few months ago to grant an interview. You can read it here:[...]
A good book for anyone wanting a goofy, quirky, actionish sort-of mystery.
I hope you enjoy Jeff's book as much as I did. (And I'm not just saying that because I know the guy.)
